Hey there BuzzKiller’s! I’m Scarlett Bellarose, your source for all things new here at The Buzz Kill Magazine. My goal is to be your informant on the latest and greatest of all things beautiful, nerdy, and beneficial. Since this is my first piece, I’m going to give you a quick look into the interesting new things I’ve found, and tell you just why you should be paying attention.

Yes, you will want to pay attention. There’s a contest at the end, and if you win, you will get a little prize to remember me by. 😉

The first thing you need to know is that from now on, I will be telling you about everything new. You want to see the latest games, cars, technology? All, right here. Interested in the most current entertainment, music, literature, food? Yep, you got it-here. Let’s say you are just dying to know what the most current trends are. Yep, I’ll be the first to share the secrets. Nothing but new darling.

New is the only relevant word in tech, and as we all saw at the Billboard Awards, we are at a whole different level. The Michael Jackson ‘hologram’ is a stunning revelation to the technology that is soon to be mainstream.

scioSomething a little closer to being brought to your home though is an innovative project that has thousands of uses- the SCiO molecular sensor. It is the first of its kind to be small enough to hold in the palm of your hand, and at an affordable cost. A portable hand scanner that can send the chemical makeup of any object straight to your Smartphone? Well, let the coolness commence!

Nick Miller from Forbes says it is “Good news for Trekkies…” Calling it the Tricorder.

With applications that can check the ripeness of produce at the store, the nutrient makeup of your food, identifying medication, or even being able to check for possible allergens, this tool could be a lifesaver at its most basic stages. It has more promising attributes soon to unfold, and is even being called the “Google for physical objects.”

You can pre-order it now on Kickstarter, where the goal to raise $200,000 for its production was surpassed and is currently sitting at $1,763,787. I can’t wait to get my hands on this piece of technology. What would you use it for?

the evil withinYou know what is better than technology? A new game to dive into. My most intriguing option for 2014? The Evil Within. It’s gory, terrifying, and the graphics are insane. Coming to us from Tango Gameworks, founded by the creator of the fabulous Resident Evil series, The Evil Within is sure to please. You’re going to have to wait for this experience, though, it isn’t due to be released until August. They just had to get us all hot and bothered. Well, if that didn’t get you worked up, this monster packed trailer will!

The Evil Within
the rockin lazy jLast, but certainly not least, I wanted to tell you about this amazing group I discovered. They are going to change the world, one child at a time. John Morrison has always dreamed about helping and protecting the children that are going through foster care. A few years ago, he realized his calling was driving him towards something more- The Rockin Lazy J Ranch. He started a non-profit safe haven for foster children, that will give them somewhere to go to feel safe, loved, and have fun. Their only job will be to be a normal kid, without the worries that their situation has overwhelmed them with. You can find out more by contacting Mr. Morrison, or by visiting The Rockin’ Lazy J Ranch Facebook page. If you would like to support this cause, there is a fundly account set up.

“I came to this house for safety. They came because the foster care system ran out of homes. We stayed because we were stray pieces of other puzzles, tired of never fitting.”
― Katie McGarry, Dare You To

Please join the online fundraiser on July 5th, and share on Facebook. This is a world changing opportunity, and if even one kid is helped, I feel we have done our part.

Well, thank you for reading, and now that you have embraced some newness, it’s time for our contest!

I will be picking a winner at random to receive a prize!

P.S. Anyone else excited about the upcoming return of Sailor Moon? I mean, not only are we getting the actual show, including all of the seasons and episodes that were cut for U.S. Airing, but Hulu is making a spin-off? Hellz yeah!
