Ah, we meet again in this hunk ridden hall of celebrity crushes. Naturally, I have a new inductee who may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I however, would let this guy have my two sugar lumps any day. I can’t say I’d mind being labeled as a cougar in this instance, as I’d like to sink my claws into this young singer/songwriter on a daily basis. I give to you Ed Sheeran, who proves that not all gingers are without a soul.
Edward Christopher Sheeran is likely the finest Roman Catholic raised Aquarius of all time from Halifax England. I can’t say that his success comes as a surprise given that his parents and older brother all have impressive histories as well. His father having been an art curator/lecturer and his mother a culture publicist turned jewelry designer who both ran an independent art consultancy called Sheeran Lock from 1990 to 2010. His older brother Matthew is a classical composer and a post grad music student. Ed, attended Thomas Mills High and moved to London in 2008 to pursue his career in music, and I’m glad he did.
Mr. Sheeran signed with Asylum Records in 2011 with his debut album containing ‘The A Team’ and ‘Lego House’. That album went quintuple platinum in the U.K. QUINTUPLE freaking platinum! ‘The A Team’ was also nominated song of the year, which he performed with Sir Elton John in 2013 at the Grammys. I have to applaud him for getting such an iconic man to perform with him, and I personally enjoyed the live rendition quite a lot.
In that back of my mind, I was imagining what a song about my own life written by him would be like. I was truly intrigued, and had to look up everything possible on this hunk of adorkable delicious talent. I fell in love when it dawned on me that some of his songs do indeed depict parts of my life, AND he did a track for the 2nd Hobbit movie, ‘The Desolation of Smaug’. (L.O.T.R. Or anything related to it, is sort of my thing) I had the biggest nerd boner ever when I finally realized that’s the voice that was behind that flowy track. Please, break my heart, rip it open, all while looking innocent and young making me feel like a naughty, naughty girl for thinking of what I’d like you to spank me with. Hell, I’m Asian, loving ginger of any assortment is perfectly natural right? Please, let me train your dragon.
Anyways, Mr. Sheeran also co-wrote the song “Everything has Changed” with Ms. Taylor Swift on her album ‘Red’. I do not think this a coincidence at all. Red album, red hair, when people were just starting to get annoyed with her break up songs. BHAMM!!! New gorgeous fresh talent with an accent, AND something to sing about OTHER than how broken her heart was after a whole three week romance. Just BAZINGA! Yeah, he co-wrote the song ‘Moments’ with the boy band “One Direction” but boy bands are soooo not fetch anymore. I don’t know why they keep trying to make it happen. I’m ashamed to admit that I only listened to the song he co-wrote with Ms. Swift to see how terrible of a break up she was going through. I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks for being an emotional train wreck Taylor, I now have a new talented artist to listen to, whom is someone I can actually aspire to be like and relate to.
I am excited to announce that on June 23, 2014 (the day I decided this was my new inductee, weird coincidence, I know) that his new album “X “is being released worldwide. It’s actually meant to read as ‘multiply’ which I would gladly do with this blue eyed beauty. I have already listened to some of the new music, and am absolutely smitten with how many of his songs could be dedicated to someone in my life. I sure hope he keeps making more music, and with any luck, some more gingers with his talents and soul. Gingers are going to make a comeback, and not Gilligan’s Island style, this world has enough vainglorious bimbos. There however, aren’t enough gingers like this rising artist.
