Some wonder how some people can evolve from the worst experiences. Well, we are the kindest, wisest, and the most empathetic people you will ever meet. Sometimes pain isn’t who you are; it’s where you come from. It makes you believe in change. It makes you a better person because you’re not so quickly to judge others on their actions. We’ve been there, and we understand you.

Too many people say we are damaged goods. We are not damaged. We met with life’s cruelest moments, and we’re still alive. We are survivors. If in fact we live in a world where someone considers that damaged is weak, useless, flawed. I’d rather live on Mars. In fact, we survive because we are mentally strong. We’ve been challenged in ways that other people cannot understand.

When people don’t understand, they will distance themselves. They will make excuses. They will make you feel like you’re not good enough. The truth is that they can’t even fathom the things we’ve overcome. So they make you seem like you are the broken one because they don’t understand.

We are smart. We look at life situations and can choose wisely because we have learned from our past. But our past is the past. We are an evolutionary race of our own. We have evolved from pain. We are warriors. That’s what sets us apart.

RPP-BG-OrigSo they next time someone says you are damaged, too emotional, or unstable remember those words. Remember that we are stronger than those who wish to down us. When they try to tell you to be quiet remember that your story is your own. They can never take that away from you. Remember that you are the strong one and they just say that because they can’t possibly understand what you’ve been through. Its sad little minds that can’t comprehend so they down others to make themselves feel better.

You are someone. You make a difference. Don’t let someone tell you that you don’t matter because to someone you do. Instead of downing people we can bring others up. Smile at everyone because you never know who needs that and what someone is going through.
