I have been looking for the perfect man to enter into my life. It is not easy being alone at the holidays. Everyone is walking around talking about getting engaged, married, and having children and I am over here wondering if it is the 18th yet. See, I like many of you, will be in the middle of a jammed pack theater sitting next to people that I have a common bond with. An infatuation for the Star Wars franchise. We are going to watch as all of our favorite characters come back to the big screen. I remember being a little girl in my bedroom watching Star Wars and always dreaming of being part of their world. I would be the one who would get rescued and not Princess Leia. I always dreamed of being a strong woman who can kick some ass and look amazing doing it. As a little girl I even knew the perfect man was in the Star Wars universe. I never really cared for Luke as I thought he was a little too whiny for me. If I wanted to date a woman, I would. Mara Jade, I am looking at you. No, my man was a shoot first and ask questions later kind of guy. Just ask Greedo. The next induction into The Hall of Hunks is a one of a kind man and his name is Han Solo.
Solo is a smuggler and a bad ass. I love dating the bad boy. Just something more exotic about not knowing if you are going to be able to escape an attack of Stormtroopers. Plus, he would treat his woman just like the Millennium Falcon. He would drive us hard, but show respect at the same time. That is the Alderaan Dream. Solo joined forces with the Rebel Alliance, helping out Obi Wan, Luke, and rescuing the princess from being grounded at her Dad’s place. Han was also joined in all his crimes by his best friend, a wookie named Chewbacca. The two were inseparable. Han even helped Chewie get back home to be with his family on Life Day. A man like that only comes around once in a blue moon.
The second movie was hard for me to watch. I hated seeing my man dumped in frozen carbonite. He was nothing more than a giant decoration in the palace of Jabba the Hut. As he is being lowered into being frozen, Leia says “I love you.” And he responds with two simple words that made me realize what it was like to have chills from a man. “I know.” That one line is the reason I started the change into womanhood. Han is able to escape with help from everyone and Lando.
