The Best of Music 2017

by | Dec 22, 2017

2017 was another great year for new music, but it was a fantastic year for new artists releasing their debut albums. Artists like Brett Young, Lindsay Ell, Carly Pearce and Walker Hayes made huge waves this year with their debut albums which, I believe, were all some of the strongest releases of 2017. Some other big splashes made this year came from new artists whose big releases came in the form of EPs as opposed to full length albums. Ryan Hurd, Jillian Jacqueline, Bailey Bryan, and Josh Dorr being just a few of the artists behind EPs so good, fans are anxiously awaiting more new music from them already. As if that wasn’t enough, there were even artists this year who only released a single song or two and still managed to create a heavy buzz around them, giving music fans even more to be excited about in 2018, as that’s when we can only hope we’ll be given more new music from those artists. And then of course, 2017 was also an exciting year for highly anticipated new music releases from some of our favorite, already established artists, such as Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Lady Antebellum, Brantley Gilbert, Kelsea Ballerini, and Darius Rucker, among others.

No doubt this year has most certainly seen some of the best music releases we’ve heard in a long time. There have been albums that just simply satisfied our musical appetites, some that exceeded expectations, and then those special few that just completely rocked the industry with how phenomenal they are. 2017 has been the year that previous records set were totally shattered, and any preconceived notions of certain artists were thrown out the window. Unfortunately, though, this year also happened to be the same year that presented us with a few very underwhelming albums that many of us were looking forward to. In fact, those albums were so built up that when we did listen and realize what a disappointment they were, it actually hurt a little to just barely be able to get through to them because they were that much of a letdown. Luckily, though, the good outweighed the bad in 2017, so music fans had a lot to be excited and grateful for.

While compiling my Best of 2017 list for this year, I noticed a common theme among the albums I’ve chosen. A lot of the albums on my list are on here because the artists did something different and so unique that they just stood out against the rest. There’s a certain distinctness in the style and sound of a lot of these albums that sets them apart and just makes them really so much more special than other albums released this year. So, without making you all wait any longer, here it is. Below are my picks for 2017’s best music releases.
