Harry Potter “Casts” Goodbye to Freeform

by | Dec 10, 2017

Things that have lasted the test of time, Superbowl Parties where someone gets so wasted they forget they are watching football, The Day After Halloween where you can get reduced candy, and Freefrom having Harry Potter Weekend every three weeks. But in 2018 one of these traditions will cease to exist. Freeform lost the rights to show the Harry Potter franchise. The network that was known as ABC Family before the worst name change in modern American history, will have one more huge Harry potter Weekend before it all comes to an end on Dec 28th to Dec 31st.

However, the Harry Potter movies may be leaving Freeform but they have found a new home. HBO has acquired the rights to the franchise and are starting out with a bang. On Jan. 1st, the marathon will start with Sorcerer’s Stone and will conclude Jan. 2nd with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The move does make a lot of sense from the stand point that WB Movies are shown on HBO, plus now, you don’t have to sit through those pesky commercials during the movie.
