We discussed this on our last episode of TBK Live, and was wondering if it would happen or not. But the BBC announced shortly after the Series 11 Finale that series 12 of Doctor Who will not air until early 2020. So, if anyone has a TARDIS can we borrow it?
I am not sure as if this news comes as a surprise or not. Rumors have been swirling around the airing of episode 4 in season 11 that Chris Chibnall was not happy with the job of being head writer of Who. I feel any show with a passionate fanbase is going to cause a headache for whoever is going to be the one at the helm.
The other rumor that I feel the pushback may lend more credit too is the idea that Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker could both leave the show after Series 12. As a fan of the show, and seeing where it is going, Chibnall leaving may not be the worst thing. Doing an entire season without any of the big bads familiar to the Whoniverse was a terrible idea. However, I would be genuinely sad if Jodie left the show. I think her portrayal of the Time Lord is lovely and a breath of fresh air that the show needs. For the first time as a fan of the show, it feels that we may be stuck between a rock and a hard place. Plus, no matter what happens with the show many fans want the Tennant or Smith runs again.
And one other thing that bothers me as a fan, removing the Christmas Day episode for one on New Year’s Day. The Christmas Day episode has become a tradition for a lot of fans. But the good news is that we will see the 13th Doctor taking on The Daleks for the first time which should make for an epic showdown.
