The Good Place quickly became one of the biggest hits in the NBC lineup and rightfully so. The sitcom is able to push the boundaries while being able to not fall into the tropes of what happens after a person dies. After being renewed for the second season, showrunner Mike Schur told The Hollywood Reporter that the show would not be designated for the long run. And as a fan, the best you can hope for is still as long as run as possible. Well, on Friday fans of the show were shocked to find out The Good Place would end after the upcoming fourth season.

The announcement would be told to the world during the For Your Consideration event in which shows pitch for award nominations. Instead of the show dragging on like some in the genre, ending while being one of the hottest sitcoms in television land can be commendable. But the plus side is that long after the show is off the air from NBC, something tells me the series will keep gaining steam. The Good Place is rightfully set to take its spot among some of the most loved shows of the genre. And unlike shows of the past, The Good Place will continue to live through streaming platforms.
While this may be the last time, we are able to see what happens to Eleanor, Chidi, Michael, Jason, Tahani, and all the Janets, I think a part of me will be able to rest easy knowing that this show will always be in a good place.
