I did not expect to wake up with the news that a Christmas song went number 1 on the Hot 100 Billboard Chart. The only thing going through my mind is if it is that damn Jake Paul, I am going to put my manhood in a waffle iron that makes Darth Vader shaped waffles. However, what I did not see coming is that the song at number 1 would be 25 years old. “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey is a Christmas staple. And one of the more hated songs on the holiday rotation, but this year the hate was apparently not as strong as the song went to Number 1 for the first time.
We did it ?❤️??? https://t.co/Cp80uhYdI9

The song spent 34 weeks on the chart without reaching the top spot. The Macarena spent 32 weeks on the Hot 100 until it reached number one. I am not sure about anyone else, but this seems completely out of nowhere. But it does prove that it has been awhile since a Christmas song became a must for any lover of the holiday.
The 34-week statistic is one thing. But “All I want For Christmas You” is the first Christmas song since The Chipmunk Song in 1958-59. Let’s hope Wham’s Last Christmas is next to claim that top spot.
