Earlier this week we learned of the popular event South by Southwest in Austin being cancelled, Emerald City Comic Con Cancelled, most recently, Rupaul’s Drag Con LA, and today another event is being cancelled due to Covid-19 better known as the Coronavirus.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo better known as E3 will not be taking place in 2020. The event is the center of the video game universe and premieres the newest titles as well as giving us a preview into the next generation of consoles.
In a statement released, “After careful consultation with our member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry – our fans, our employees, our exhibitors and our longtime E3 partners – we have made the difficult decision to cancel E3 2020, scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles.”
E3 2021 is still planned.
A lot of fans were filled with excitement as this year’s event could have given us a glimpse at the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
We do expect announcements of games in the coming month through online platforms such as Nintendo Direct. We could eventually see all companies follow the lead of Nintendo and announce to the fans through an online event. Only time will tell. But as for now, E3 will not be taking place in 2020.
