Series: Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet
Where to watch it: Apple TV+
Seasons: One

Ian (pronounced like nine minus the leading “n”) is the creative director on a popular MMO video game called Mythic Quest. Ian works with a great coding team lead by Poppy. Poppy is Ian’s counterbalance, dragging him down to earth and keeping him encouraged. The office’s most notable characters include: David, the executive producer-he is forever torn between supporting his creative “family” and his bosses higher up the ladder, David’s assistant,Jo -who is enthralled with Ian, power, and cyber bullying, Brad- head of monetization, who exists to prove that money makes the world go around, to waste time, and create strife within the office, C.W. Longbottom- the washed up, awarding winning writer, Rachel and Dana- the game testers, Carol -in HR, and Sue -in customer public relations/complaints.
This shows gives us a peak into a dramatized and hysterically disorganized office just days before and shortly after the release of an expansion for a popular massively multiplayer online game. I promise there will be internal power struggles, petty arguments, dinner parties for Nazis, battles to the death, and a toast to a shovel.
Rating: A
Is it worth watching: Yes, no prior gaming experience needed to enjoy this but I think you’ll probably love it more if you are a gamer. Episodes are a short 30 minutes so this series is a quick binge. I enjoyed it so much that I re-watched it with my son (It is a true TV-MA due to language.) The characters are terrible but still fun and generally likable.
It has a diverse cast with women in strong roles. My personal favorite is Michelle, a dreary coder on Poppy’s coding team. She has a blunt, often bleak outlook who is not afraid to be honest.
Notable cast includes: Rob McElhenney, Danny Pudi, Jake Johnson
