I am about 71.5% sure that we are in an alternate reality because things just do not make sense anymore. And this story is sure to hammer that point home. When states started their shelter in place mandates to help flatten the curve with COVID-19, little did we know that a man who calls himself Joe Exotic would become a house hold name. The man who owned a zoo in Oklahoma is the feature of a Netflix documentary called Tiger King. And at this point, almost everyone has watched this train wreck of a show. And with all of that fame, television studios are looking to the documentary to become a miniseries.
According to Variety, Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into The World of a Man Gone Wild will be taking place through Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios. The rights were secured by Dan Lagana in June of 2019. Lagana is also the front runner behind the short-lived mockumentary style show, American Vandal, which aired for two seasons on Netflix.
One of the keys is landing the actor who will portray Joe Exotic himself and today they found their leading man. The role of Joe exotic will be played by Nicolas Cage. The role of Joe Exotic will be the first time in Nicolas Cage’s career he will headline a television series.
We are officially in the weirdest timeline. Kate Mckinnon will be playing Carol Baskin in a series based on the Wondery Podcast about the eccentric tiger owner.
