By Cindy Johnson
You came suddenly, unexpected, uninvited.
Yet you lingered, unwanted, changing lives.
People became wary, cowering in fear, streets deserted
Stores virtually forgotten.
We were forced to stay home, behind closed doors.
You were called an invisible enemy, mircroscopic in size,
yet lethal if allowed to infiltrate.
You became more powerful as you multiplied
Thousands died daily as the rest of the world looked on in horror,
Soon, many didn’t seem to care, as the world divided
Invisible to the naked eye, yet you destroyed our lives.
