I have a special request this year. You see, things aren’t going so well for our world right now. We’ve been in a global pandemic since March of this year. I’m sure you’ve probably heard the news, but I know you’re busy up there in the North Pole getting all packed up for your special deliveries. I’m sure there have been lots of requests for dolls, electronics, bicycles, etc., but what I want, I’m not sure you can fit into that big Christmas bag of yours.
There are two vaccines right now, for which I am very thankful. I consider it a miracle, but it won’t be available to everyone for a while. I’m thankful frontline workers can get it, like doctors, nurses, paramedics, and everyone else considered high risk. I’m willing to continue being careful until it’s available for everyone. In the meantime, what I want for Christmas is for people to be kinder and more considerate. It seems we’re living in a world of stubbornness and selfishness right now. Our country is divided. But there are still really wonderful people in the world, and that gives me hope for when this thing ends. Do you have some kind of special magic powder that you can sprinkle all over our world to make things better?
I believe I’ve changed this year. The death of my father, due to COVID19 was really hard. I know I’ve learned to appreciate the simple things in life more, and not take things for granted. His death was no doubt a big factor in that. I took care of two orphaned kittens, and I even saw a heart shaped cloud once this year. Even when things are back to normal, whatever that may be, I want to continue being able to notice and appreciate things I probably didn’t notice before this all happened. So, Santa, if you have any way to make people change for the better and end this pandemic, that’s what I want. I didn’t make cookies this year, but I’ll leave you some white pretzels.
