Movie: Greener Grass
Where to watch it: Hulu
Set in a strange suburban town, we get a peak into the lives of Lisa and Jill. It’s a surreal world were they drive golf carts and everyone is too polite to move when they meet at a four way stop. Were everyone has braces in effort to get that perfect smile. Were you kiss the wrong spouse because everyone is so basic that they might as well be interchangeable. Were it’s perfectly reasonable to give your baby away because someone else thought your daughter was cute. All is well, until Jill begins to regret giving away her daughter and then her remaining child, a son, turns into a dog. Things quickly go downhill from there.
Is it worth watching: I really enjoyed this movie and really would recommend it. However, this film is not going to appeal to all audiences. It has a 6.3/10 on IMDB but received an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes. This film seems to confuse people. It’s not quite a comedy but doesn’t really fit in with any other genre. It’s a trippy, satirical film that reminds me of something that I might have watched in theatre class. It’s so surreal and strange. A great commentary on the cliche of the cookie cutter suburban lifestyle.
